Living in a globalised world, an understanding of human and physical processes is vital in comprehending complex and interdependent systems. Beginning at a local scale we explore the immediate area and county. We also discover the different parts of the British Isles and compare contrasting localities; deserts and polar regions, cities and country. Physical features that our pupils learn about include rivers, mountain to sea, volcanoes and earthquakes. Mapping skills are taught progressing to a clear overview of Ordnance Survey mapping symbols and grid references, including using an online resource to support the application of skills taught.
