In our diverse society children need, more than ever before, to understand other people and cultures. Geography makes a major contribution to children’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development. Our keen young geographers will be fascinated and inspired to develop knowledge and understanding about their own locality, the United Kingdom and globally significant locations around the world. They will be actively engaged to learn map and fieldwork skills, including first-hand observations, enhancing their locational awareness and can use vocabulary relating to their human and physical geography. The children will be able to recognise, describe and explain features and connections in the places studied, comparing similarities and differences, and evaluating what this means to them in their local community and helping them make sense of the world.
